Manila Bay could have been a beautiful public beach in Manila, Philippines

In Mother Earth on March 12, 2009 at 7:42 pm

I am currently reading about investing (continuous learning) and thought of having a break to write a blog about the news that was shared in 24 Oras of GMA 7 where kids are swimming in Manila Bay. A boy said that it’s nice to swim in Manila Bay because of the current hot weather as it cools them down. Another man also said that it’s nice to swim there because it’s free as compared to “costly” swimming pools.

Naisip ko tuloy yung mga dagat sa USA and other countries where people are able to freely swim because it’s clean. That could have been a pretty nice sight if it’s also possible for people to swim in our very own Manila Bay where the Sun set is awesome. It could have been the best place to hang-out and kill time before heading straight home.

But I never saw the bay at its best. I was born na madumi na ang Manila Bay. And it’s sad. I’m no expert with the technicalities of how to restore the environment but I do hope and pray that in time (which should start now) it will be back to its old beauty. Hopefully before my life expires. On top of Mayor Lim’s plan in providing the Manila residents a free swimming pool so that people will no longer swim in Manila Bay because of it’s current dirty state that is highly harmful to human beings, the mayor should also have the campaign to restore Manila Bay as I’ve said above. I don’t know how as I’m no scientist but if I’m in the position, I believe this is a very good use of the government’s financial resources.

To all of you who reads this blog, please DO NOT litter on wrong places especially in our bodies of water. It doesn’t only make our bodies of water ugly but it also results to a series of negative effects to all living things – human beings included. Small litters can temporarily be put inside our pockets or throw it in proper garbage bins (biodegrable and non-biodegradable). If it’s not too much to request also that you inspire your other loved ones to do the same. Imagine, from me to the readers of this blog and then to the people you’ll inspire to care for the environment and so on and so forth. That’s how we can solve a lot of global problems via a global solution using collective efforts of individual people. Of course, there are other great ways to do good things to the environment but this is a good start.

  1. i remember myself jogging along the seawall… may nakita akong Chinese tourists na nagpipicture-picture, guess kung anong background: isang island ng basura sa manila bay,,, so sad

  2. Yeah, sana nga marevive pa ang Manila Bay. Anyway, it’s a lesson to all of us to care for our remaining clean bodies of water.

  3. Cleaning up the bay should be the main objective of the authorities because Manila Bay is one of the most beautiful places in the world and it’s a pitty if it is not taken care of!
